Magic G Nelson returns to lineup (AP)

Point guard Jameer Nelson returned to the Orlando Magic lineup Wednesday night after missing five games because of a strained right foot tendon. Hearing set for cop in Williams’ case (AP)

A hearing concerning a racial slur used by an officer involved in the investigation of the manslaughter case against former NBA star Jayson Williams has been scheduled for May. The hearing was scheduled for May 14 by the state Appellate Division. At issue is an appeal by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office of a judge’s order to release all details about the incident. Knicks F Balkman suspended 1 game (AP)

Knicks forward Renaldo Balkman was suspended without pay for Wednesday night’s game against the Utah Jazz for committing a flagrant foul against the Los Angeles Lakers’ Sasha Vujacic. Cavs F Varejao to miss up to 4 weeks (AP)

Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao will miss up to four weeks with a left ankle sprain, another loss for a team gaining momentum in the Eastern Conference. Varejao sprained the ankle when he accidentally stepped on Sasha Vujacic’s foot during a win Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers. Spurs to sit injured Parker indefinitely (AP)

The Spurs’ Big Three is down a man yet again. San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich has decided to sit Tony Parker indefinitely, against the point guard’s wishes, because of a bone spur in the star’s left heel.
